SOS ALYTES
In the forest of Soignies and surroundings RANA saved the last populations of the midwife toad (Alytes obstetricans) in close cooperation with the European School of Brussels.
SOS RED DE VOER!
Since many years RANA had to intervene to save a small stream whose sources are in the Arboretum of Tervuren (Flanders, Belgium), the last source swamp of the Soignies Forest.

WILD ANIMAL RESCUE
Over 40.000 animals were saved, reintroduces, translocated or inserted in programmes of specialised fauna centers: tortoises and turtles (CARAPAX, Italy Britisch Chelonia Group UK, Born Free UK, Dutch Turtle Foundation, SOPTOM France, CRT Spain), birds (Bird Protection Societies, Belgian VOC centers), monkeys (AAP Foundation the Netherlands, Parrots (NOP Holland). Most actions were logistically supported by airlines: VIRGIN, KLM, Brussels Airlines, Olympic Airways…
AIRLIFTS
Many thousands of unwanted, abandoned pets, mainly American red eared pond sliders (Trachemys scripta elegans and T.s.scripta), and other fresh water species were rescued, and prevented from being released in the wild. The more than 100 airlifts were sponsored by VIRGIN and organised in close collaboration with TORMED, Britisch Chelonia Group and the Dutch Turtle Foundation, whose chairman, Bob Luyendijk was wildlife cargo manager of most of the airlifts. A repatriation operation to the USA is being prepared.
RESCUE FACILITY “LOUISIANA LAKE”
In 2007 the British Chelonia Group and RANA inaugurated the rescue facility for unwanted USA Red eared pond terrapins in Italy. Some 3500 unwanted terrapins were rescued and readapted to living in the wild, awaiting their repatriation to the USA.
